Environment and Community
Renewable electricity and responsible campus design
NOVERIX will secure certificates of green origin for all electricity purchased for normal campus operations, supporting the broader shift to renewable generation. Our plans for the Mostar campus combine this commitment with a design approach intended to conserve water, control noise and protect the surrounding environment.
We are committed to being a transparent, responsible neighbour to the communities around the campus. Here we set out the safeguards being built into the campus design, how we intend to monitor and report on environmental performance, and how residents can raise questions as the project develops.
Renewable electricity with certificates of green origin
Certificates of origin will be secured to cover all electricity purchased for normal campus operations. Further regional renewable projects may provide additional sourcing options as the campus develops.
Our environmental reporting will identify the renewable generation sources, the volumes covered by certificates and the relevant reporting periods. Certificate documentation will be checked against purchased electricity volumes so that our renewable electricity commitment can be verified.
Renewable sourcing and energy efficiency will be pursued together. Cooling equipment, pumps, fans and electrical systems will be selected to limit unnecessary consumption.
How the environmental design will be developed
The campus design is being developed to address environmental impact as a whole — energy efficiency, water use, noise and air emissions are considered together rather than in isolation.
The central goal of our approach is to minimise water consumption, alongside reducing energy use across the facility. This approach will be carried through detailed engineering, environmental assessment and applicable permit conditions as the project progresses.
Water conservation

Smoke and battery off-gas detection where applicable
Air & noise monitoring
Continuous measurements and alerts
Efficient power protection
UPS systems limit conversion losses while supporting continuity
Cooling and local environmental protection
Cooling designed to conserve water
NOVERIX will prioritise heat-rejection arrangements that minimise water consumption while meeting the site's performance and reliability requirements. At this scale of energy use, the cooling design will draw substantially less water than comparable industrial operations, keeping the campus's water footprint low.
The overall project design will also address the available heat output and the feasibility of useful heat recovery for the nearby industrial processes where suitable.
Noise control for neighbouring properties
Protecting the quality of life of neighbouring communities is a leading principle of the campus design.
Acoustic enclosures, silencers and equipment layout are chosen from the outset to keep noise from reaching nearby homes. Specialist modelling will inform equipment placement and assess daytime and night-time noise at nearby homes. Commissioning measurements will check the completed installation, with monitoring and corrective action where required.
Safety systems
The campus is being engineered with layered safety systems to protect continuity of operations and the surrounding communities and the environment. This includes emissions treatment to minimize pollutants, leak detection with physical containment for fuel and coolant systems, and early warning systems to identify developing issues quickly.
These systems are designed on a detection and preemption basis, so that no single measure is relied on alone: detection, containment and rapid response work together to prevent an issue from reaching the surrounding environment. Equipment will be tested before commissioning and inspected on an ongoing basis throughout operation, following the same rigorous design and approval processes adopted by all project phases.
Monitoring and efficient operation
Continuous environmental monitoring
NOVERIX will employ continuous monitoring of all potential air pollutants and environmental impacts, supported by independent measurements across all parameters, to confirm that the campus performs within the low-impact levels its design is intended to achieve.
Independent assessments and community input will shape the campus design from the outset and throughout its development, with a focus on minimizing impacts on the environment and the surrounding community.
Independent assessment and verification
Independent assessment will accompany the project at every stage of its development — from baseline studies before construction, through design and construction, to commissioning and ongoing operation. This includes evaluating the project's effects on the surrounding area, addressing air quality, noise, water use, and any other potential issues identified through the environmental review.
Before operation, commissioning will verify that installed safeguards perform as specified, and independent verification will continue through operation as part of the monitoring and reporting commitment. We intend to make relevant non-technical study summaries, final environmental commitments and subsequent performance updates available throughout the development and operation process.
Information for the community
What we intend to report
NOVERIX will publish what the campus actually uses and emits — electricity, water, noise and air emissions — on a regular schedule, checked by independent review bodies, before and during construction, and during its operation. The reported figures will include:
- Electricity purchased for campus operations, and the volumes and periods covered by certificates of origin.
- Water use by source, including seasonal and peak demand.
- Energy efficiency, including power usage effectiveness.
- Noise monitoring and relevant air-quality measurements.
- Backup-generator testing and emergency operating hours, fuel use and associated emissions assessments.
Questions and concerns
We welcome questions from residents, local organisations and neighbouring businesses. A designated community contact will coordinate responses, record concerns and follow up on issues that require investigation. Details of the contact arrangements and relevant project updates will be made available as development progresses.
